Artist Statement
Mary Arnett-Delaney graduated from Ball State University in 2016 with a BFA in Painting.
During my time at Ball State I started finding ways to combine Poetry and Fine Art. Through Painting and Letterpress Printmaking I found that I could think of a big idea and boil it down to to key words and rewrite those key words into a “turn of phrase.” I try to make these phrases have impact, be memorable to the reader/viewer, and often have a tinge of humor. Through different iterations of Painting, Poetry, Printmaking, and zine/artist bookmaking a lot of my work has stemmed from grief and the daily grind, but that does not mean those things must be humorless.
